Christus ist dieses wahre Licht, das für alle Menschen in der Welt leuchtet. Doch obwohl er unter ihnen
lebte und die Welt durch ihn geschaffen wurde, erkannten die Menschen nicht, wer er wirklich war. Er kam in die
Welt, aber die Menschen nahmen ihn nicht auf. Die ihn aber aufnahmen und an ihn glaubten, denen gab er das
Recht, Kinder Gottes zu sein. Das wurden sie nicht, weil sie zu einem auserwählten Volk gehörten,
auch nicht durch menschliche Zeugung und Geburt. Dieses neue Leben gab ihnen alleine Gott.

Christ, the real light which enlightens every man was even then coming into the world. He was in the world;
but the world, though it owed it's being to him did not recognize him. He entered his own realm, and his own
would not receive him. But to all who did receive him, to those who have yielded him their allegiance, he gave
the right to become children of God, not born of any human stock, or by the fleshly desire of a human father ,
but the offspring of God himself.

Christo, la luz verdadera que alumbra a toda la humanidad venia a este mundo. Aquel que es la Palabra estaba
en el mundo, y aunque Dios hizo el mundo por medio de él, los que son del mundo no le reconocieron.
Vino a su proprio mundo, pero los suyos no lo recibieron. Pero a quienes lo recibieron y creyeron en él,
les concedió el privilegio de llegar a ser hijos de Dios. Y son hijos de Dioz, no por la naturaleza ni los
deseos humanos, sino porque Dios los ha engendrado.
